		<description>Yes, Digg is a good way to get the general sentiments the crowd has on a certain topic.  

As for policies that are deemed necessary (but not popular), it is really a judgement call.  Some might argue that ERP is a necessary policy in Singapore, but does it really solve the congestion problem?  Some might say that GST is necessary so that the government can afford to help the poor, but is that the only way to achieve the goal?

Probably given a Digg style way of public consultation, better decisions can be made on policies, instead of modifying the policy after being implemented.  Think the recent ruling on cabbies picking up passengers in the CBD area.

Anyway, this is all wishful thinking.  If the current thinking is that a YouTube political advertisement == eventual political corruption, I don't put a lot of hope for the PM, or the next PM, to be someone who understands what Web2.0 is all about.</description>
